It's hard to imagine Khloe Kardashian-Odom, she the statuesque, chic and super-famous reality TV show sister, as ever being a victim of the ugly-duckling syndrome. Her husband, Lamar Odom, obviously finds her downright dazzling, as do many fans of Keeping up with the Kardashians. But, by her own accord, she dealt with some difficult days when she was younger and less confident about her appearance. And, disappointingly enough, it seems her own school teachers fueled her insecurity.
"[My teachers would say] 'Oh, you're a Kardashian sister? But they're so pretty!' They're not saying I'm ugly, but they are--or that's how I took it," Khloe recently revealed to The Block magazine, as Monsters & Critics reports. Such a comment was certainly out of line for anyone to utter, much less a teacher, as it indirectly inferred that Khloe was not as attractive as her sisters Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian.
It's almost akin to that compliment-cum-insult that gets dropped around a lot nowadays... the "you look so pretty today" one. Everyone knows it quite well--and perhaps many have thought about it for a second too long, only to come to the conclusion that they must not look so good, even daresay ugly, on all those other days.
But, despite the verbal bully-like remarks she apparently experienced in school, Khloe Kardashian developed a way to deal with it all, and she has a good lesson and a positive perspective to share. "One day I just thought, yeah, I am different and I'm pretty in my own way and they're pretty in their own way," Khloe said. "Some people like apples, some people like oranges, but that doesn't mean apples are bad. I just accepted it." Some people even like kiwi fruit, which is fuzzy and brown and ugly on the outside, but gorgeously vibrant and fresh on the inside...
Even lately, Khloe was put on the defensive when it came to her looks, so she may have had to remind herself of her apples and oranges confidence-booster. She's way taller than Kim and Kourtney and does boast slightly different features than them, which caused the rumor mills to spin crazily with buzz that Robert Kardashian wasn't her real father. All of that gossip has been shelved for now, but at the end of the day, no one likes a bully.
