It seems pretty simple. 'No Ann Curry, less viewers,' is the new formula at The TODAY Show. The morning news program with Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie at the helm has succumbed to the success now enjoyed by Good Morning America.
According to a report from PerezHilton.com, Ann's firing has killed TODAY's ratings.
Those ratings came out Saturday, and show Good Morning America beating The TODAY Show every day since they fired Ann. In fact, GMA now boasts an average of 800,000 added daily viewers since NBC bid adieux to Ann.
It's possible that TODAY might have salvaged some of their ratings numbers had they done what they said they were going to do—use Ann often at the London Olympics. But Ann only appeared on air with Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker once or twice—and seemingly went missing for many days in between.
Now she's back on TODAY a bit more often as their special correspondent, but it looks like it's a case of too little, too late.
If Ann Curry were a spiteful woman, she'd no doubt be getting the best and last laugh—curled up on her couch with a big mug of hot coffee, while watching Good Morning America!
