Kate Gosselin was recently accused via an e-book by author Robert Hoffman of abusing her children by spanking them with a wooden spoon. Now it seems she's also been accused of abusing the family dogs as well.
According to a report from RadarOnline, the Jon and Kate Plus 8 gang used to have two German shepherds--Shoka and Nala--and it seems Kate's abuse of them even bothered ex-husband Jon Gosselin.
"Kate left the family dogs in their cages behind the house for hours on end with no food," Hoffman claims.
After the split between Jon and Kate, they took turns caring for the dogs at each separate household, but when Jon arrived at Kate's house to take them to his place he repeatedly found them hungry and filthy--in cages outside of Kate's home.
"She never cleaned the cages," Hoffman claims. "Jon would return to find them filled with urine, poop and puke. I saw vomit in them."
It seems blatant neglect isn't the only thing Hoffman is accusing Kate of either. Robert Hoffman says she routinely hit the dogs--hopefully not with a wooden spoon.
"She would knock them over the head and yell," he says. "The abuse caused Nala to become very resistant to Kate, so that any time she came around, Nala growled. After a while, Kate began to fear she'd be attacked, so she sent the dog back to the breeder."
Do you think this is a case of intentional abuse or was Kate simply overwhelmed with her responsibilities for eight children as a newly single mom?
According to Hoffman, Kate didn't want to get the two dogs. She apparently only consented to getting them for the sake of Jon and Kate Plus 8 ratings.
"The kids had been begging for pets for years but Kate was adamantly against it, until the show needed content for an episode," Hoffman writes. "She was only nice to the dogs for the camera. As soon as filming was done, she never wanted anything to do with them. She'd tell Jon, 'They're yours... I'm not taking care of them.'"
How much truth do you suppose there is to Robert Hoffman's allegations? Do you think Kate Gosselin really abused her dogs as well as her kids? Or is this simply a case of a writer trying desperately to make a buck? Even though Amazon has pulled his book off their website following legal fallout, he's still raking in the dough doing interviews about his claims of Kate's abuse.
