Honey Boo Boo is now officially a star, but for a very unfortunate reason. Someone has threatened to kidnap her, and her family is beefing up security. Her mother, June Shannon, is reportedly terrified, and the tiny beauty pageant contestant and TLC reality star now has her own 24 hour bodyguard. Yikes.
Reportedly, Boo Boo received "abduction threats" at her school. Her teachers have since been instructed to keep a close watch on her. Even worse, there was a recent attempted break-in at her house. Sources believe that the would be kidnappers are counting on TLC paying a huge ransom if their ratings-rich child star were to be abducted. TLC had reportedly denied the kidnap claims. And that's where the whole story gets weird. Apparently there are conflicting reports about TLC's attitude toward the family's dilemma. In one version, the family "wanted to relocate, but were legally tied down because TLC wanted them to continue living their regular lifestyle..." In another version, "the network offered to help the family relocate, but June turned down the offer." Strange.
In any case, it's good that poor little Honey Boo Boo has a bodyguard, and that her family and the local authorities are aware that her safety has been threatened. Sadly, there are a lot of crazy people in the world. That being said, a couple of nagging questions remain. Are the abduction threats real or just a prank? Or worse, could they be a publicity stunt?
Reality T.V., you know.
Stay tuned.
