Bad News Bears actress Sammi Kane Kraft died in a tragic car crash in L.A. on October 9th. She was just 20 years old. Kane starred in the 2005 remake of the 1976 film that originally starred Tatum O'Neil and Walter Matthau.
According to a report from Hollywood Life, Sammi played the role of Amanda Whurlitze--the only girl on a baseball team made up of bizarre misfits.
Details aren't perfectly clear, but it sounds like Sammi was a passenger in a car driven by her friend, 21-year-old Molly Kate Adams. The Daily Mail reports that Adams was arrested for drunk driving. She received 'moderate injuries' in the car crash.
Losing a young person in a senseless way like this adds insult to injury to the survivors. Knowing her death might have been prevented will likely haunt her family for the rest of their lives.
Do you remember seeing Sammi Kane Kraft in the 2005 remake of Bad News Bears? Or are you more familiar with the original starring Tatum O'Neil as Amanda Whurlitze in the 2005 original?
Condolences are no doubt arriving from near and far to Sammi's family as they grieve the loss of their daughter. May they find peace in the comfort of family and friends in the coming days as they process this horrific tragedy.
