Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth just got matching tattoos on their respective forearms. Cool, but will their new ink save their reportedly faltering romance?
The Party in the U.S.A. singer and her Hunger Games hunk fiancé have certainly seemed to have their share of drama lately. Liam was rumored to be angry about Miley's incessant over sharing on Twitter. He even demanded at one point that she cancel her account. She reportedly refused. She has, however, dropped out of the Bonnie & Clyde reboot, and there was speculation that her withdrawal from the project resulted from "relationship woes." Now there's speculation about the meaning of the new ink as well.
In July, 2012, La Cyrus had a Theodore Roosevelt quote tattooed on her left forearm. The quote was from a speech made by Roosevelt in 1910.
"So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat," the tattoo read.
Recently, Liam Hemsworth was spotted sporting a new tattoo of a quote that originated in the same speech.
"If he fails," it reads, "at least fails while daring greatly."
Miley posted a photo on her Instagram account featuring the couple showing off their complimentary tatts. In Roosevelt's speech, Liam's quote immediately followed the quote inked on Miley arm. The two together make a complete and very positive thought. Some fan sites are speculating that Liam's tattoo is his "way of showing how much he loves Miley." Or they could be the couple's way of showing their solidarity to the world and dispelling all those annoying "trouble in Paradise" rumors.
So will it work? Does the couple that gets inked together stay together? Not usually. On the other hand, the world may be reading way too much into Miley Cyrus' and Liam Hemsworth's body art. Much like Freud's cigar, sometimes a tattoo is just a tattoo.
