50 Shades of Grey may still be making waves, but some people just don't get it. What's so great about the sex scenes? Why are so many people--women especially--excited by it?
To shed some light on this, True Blood actor Stephen Moyer told why he thinks the racy erotic novels are so popular and why vampires are in the same category.
"A vampire also treats you with old-fashioned manners, while at any point he could overwhelm you and rip your life away. There's something very sexually exciting about that. Look at '50 Shades of Grey," Moyer said. "It's about romance and power and fantasy. Vampires have a sort of brooding presence that goes back to Gothic literature. There's often a dark, enigmatic man involved, such as Mr. Rochester or Heathcliff."
Obviously, 50 Shades of Grey is all about power and fantasy...with a sprinkling of romance. It's not exactly the most romantic story but women seem to love it nonetheless.
What do you think of Moyer's comments? Is he right about the obsession with vampires and 50 Shades?
