Singer Adam Lambert got political on Twitter on Friday when he tweeted his support for Barack Obama to his more than 1.7 million followers: "Lena Dunham: Your First Time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6G3nwhPuR4&sns=tw ..." In this controversial video, Lena Dunham, creator and star of the HBO series Girls, talks about her first time voting and why she's voting for President Obama.
If the video wasn't enough clue as to who is getting Adam's vote, he made sure to clarify with a followup tweet, "In case I hadn't been direct, I am voting fo
r OBAMA." He additionally stated, "Hot issues 4 me in election r Marriage Equality and a Woman's right to choose. I wish these social issues were nonpartisan, but they aren't. I just don't understand how folks would vote for a candidate and administration who's stance on Human rights is so twisted and dated. And by ignoring these issues, we are indirectly promoting ignorance and discrimination."
It comes as no surprise that Adam would endorse Obama, given that the President has shown a great deal of support for the gay community. In fact, in May Adam applauded President Obama for taking a stand on marriage equality. He tweeted "Yes!" with a photo showing a quote of Obama's declaration of support for same-sex marriage.
What do you think of Adam publicly endorsing a presidential candidate?

Just because other entertainers are political does not mean that Adam should be. I happen to think that Adam is highly intelligent. It is just incoherent to suggest that you are voting for someone because of their stand on civil liberties when the person has violated our most fundamental civil liberties. The Bill of Rights is more fundamental than gay rights or abortion. Obama had a 16 year old US citizen killed because he labeled him a "terrorist". No leader of a just society would do that. If you can randomly kill US citizens, does it really matter that you support gay marriage? Shouldn't we want a leader who supports all rights to your life, liberty and property?
