I think it is a mistake for entertainers to get political. How could anyone vote for a president who signed the NDSA? What good is marriage equality if you can be indefinitely detained and have no access to due process of law? Obama is no friend to civil liberties, but trots out support for gay marriage for political gains. Don’t get me wrong; Romney is no better. The two party system fails to protect fundamental liberty as itemized in the Bill of Rights. Supporting either party is wrong. This country as we know it is lost unless people realize how far we have sunk into despotism and try to stop it. Adam Lambert is just another one of the brainwashed masses. He is a great entertainer, but has no real concept of liberty.

Entertainers are American Citizens too and Adam Lambert has just as much a right to speak out on important political issues such as human rights as you do! Here you are ranting on about your beliefs, but you would deny the same to others. You just are an anarchist, who believes in nothing but being against everything. You are no better than delusional Republicans who are also hypocrites and liars these days. Cannot wait for Obama to win this election so people like you and Republicans will know you are no longer the voice of America and that Sanity rules the day!

Barbara, first I am not a Republican and do not share their agenda. Grouping me with them is ignorant. I do not believe it is wise for entertainers to get political, not because Adam Lambert should not have a right to his opinion, but because when he shares his uneducated opinion he can alienate people because they do not share his political views. It is about selling albums and filling concerts. It is not my "opinion" that the National Defense Security Act destroys the protection against government abuse of citizens, it is a fact. You are right, I do believe in a small government, with the power in the hands of the people. It is called "freedom". Aren't anarchist against oppression? Liberty is gone in this country. Obama is responsible for furthering despotism. Just remember, every time the TSA grabs your crotch, it does not make you any safer and it just violates your Fourth Amendment. Maybe that is alright with you. Maybe you want to be told what to do from the cradle to the grave. If you call the Obama agenda "sanity" you do not understand the importance of government restraint. Shame on you!

You are amazing to call Adam uneducated and that he should be silent because he might alienate people from buying his music. You are such a hypocrite and a paranoid extremist about government and your sense of freedom. If I could have an intelligent conversation with you, I would do it, but I have learned that extremist are not opened to see beyond their own egos and closed minds. There two choices in this election and many of us want America to lessen the disparity between the rich and middle class, most of us want basic human rights for all and for our government to be inclusive and to help those less fortunate and to give them the opportunity for a better life. Your paranoia only sees the National Defense Security Act and the TSA. If it were in the time of Bush, I would worry, but Obama is not furthering despotism, but working to make partners with the rest of the world acknowledging that we are part of a global community. He has done a great job in keeping us from an economic abyss and to try to grow the economy putting forth job acts that have been thwarted by the Republicans. It does matter who leads this country and what the core of their beliefs are. Romney has no core, whereas Obama does have a core of compassion, intelligence and the right plan to grow our country and make peoples lives better. That is what this election is all about and not your paranoia and wanting a society free to do whatever it wants with no governance. I applaud and respect Adam for being a human being with a core of beliefs and speaking out knowing he might alienate some fans. It is funny that you never address what a Romney Presidency would bring, just a full attack on Obama. You make absolutely no sense whatsoever so that is it for me. You are to closed minded and make no sense!

I needed to add one more thing. Elaine, you throw out how Obama is furthering despotism. We the people elect those that govern. The President and Congress answer to the people. Bush was the closest we ever got to despotism and those were unusual circumstances that he took advantage of and hopefully we have learned not to let happen again. If you were watching what Obama has been going through these last 4 years you, would see how far from furthering despotism Obama is. He is a President who is up against a Republican Congress that has stated they will not go along with anything. He has had to fight every step of the way to get anything passed, including a healthcare bill. That is as far from despotism that you can get. You must be living in an alternate universe to believe that is his agenda and that it is happening!!

Just because other entertainers are political does not mean that Adam should be. I happen to think that Adam is highly intelligent. It is just incoherent to suggest that you are voting for someone because of their stand on civil liberties when the person has violated our most fundamental civil liberties. The Bill of Rights is more fundamental than gay rights or abortion. Obama had a 16 year old US citizen killed because he labeled him a "terrorist". No leader of a just society would do that. If you can randomly kill US citizens, does it really matter that you support gay marriage? Shouldn't we want a leader who supports all rights to your life, liberty and property?

Just signing NDAA into law shows a total disregard for the Bill of Rights. Not repealing the Patriot Act is a disregard for the Fourth Amendment. Obama targeted and killed a sixteen year old US citizen. He was the son of Anwar al-Awlaki, who was also born in America, and was an American citizen, and who was killed by a drone two weeks before his son was, along with another American citizen named Samir Khan. The son had not seen his "terrorist" father in two years. Maybe the cold blooded killing of a child does not mean anything to you because he was the son of someone labeled a "terrorist". Under my understanding of the rule of law a person is entitled to be charged with a crime and have a judge and jury decide their fate, not be tracked by a drone and targeted for murder. Anything less than that is simply the return to a much more barbaric time in the history of mankind. The American Civil Liberties Union agrees with me so I guess they are "paranoid" as well. By the way Barbara, I am not an anarchist, I believe in the US Constitution and the Amendments. You are simply naive if you believe that the same Military Industrial Complex has not been in charge for both presidents. Because of people like you this country is too far down the road to destruction and tyranny to turn back.

I adore Adam as an entertainer and applaud hm for endorsing President Obama. The President's opponent has reversed just about every position he originally stated he has. He also claims he is for the struggling middle class, but when asked what he would do he stated he would cut taxes on capital gains and interest, but how many of us who are struggling just to keep food on the table have capital gains and tons of interest on savings and investments to worry about paying taxes on, so who will that benefit I ask?, the answer is who he cares about, his wealthy contituents. I think women ,the gay community and seniors receiving medicare and social security should be very afraid of the Romney/Ryan radically conservative ticket. So far, I have not heard anything from Gov. Romney as to how he plans to create those millions of jobs he states he will, especially since he has made millions by purchasing stuggling companies, destroying them, and sending jobs overseas. President Obama has my vote, and I will be joining the grass root efforts in getting his supports out to vote.

Anyone, including Adam who believes that Obama is a champion of human rights is uneducated. There are rights far more fundamental than marriage. Obama has trampled all over them. It is clear that in this election there is no choice for freedom. By the way Barbara Schneier, just how does Obama's foreign policy differ from the Bush war machine? You would call our Founding Fathers "paranoid". Your idea of how Obama handles the economy is laughable.

You never give examples of these infringements of our rights that Obama has done. All you make are blanket statements. You now sound like a Republican. Come on list these despot measures Obama has taken to take away your freedom. I am sure we all want to see your uninformed list and if you can't see the difference between Obama and Bush's foreign policy approaches there is no help for you. I think the place you need go to live is Iran. That is the country that fits all the criteria you rage against. Yes, go there and in a few minutes of your anarchist rants, you will definitely see what despotism really means and is acted upon. Try to send us some communication while you are in prison letting us know how you finally know the difference!

America has existed a long time and has gone through many hardships and changes and will keep changing and learning from its mistake with the right people governing. Your outlook as to where we are and where we are going is so slanted that you cannot see the whole from the small window you look through. I hope one day in years to come we meet up again to see what new doom you forecast for this country! We live in dangerous times and if what you say is true the innocent become casualties of what extremists have started. It is sad and there is no excuse, but to not see both sides and condemn everything is not helpful in the least. This is an important election and it is sad you cannot see beyond your narrow views to know the right thing to do for this country and our future!! Just condemning everything is not helpful!

Barbara, you are correct that this country has been through many hardships and changes, but my view is much broader than yours. I am a freethinking human being who took the time and energy to developed a coherent philosophy through education. I do not make up prophases of doom; they are evident to anyone who takes the time to really examine the condition of this country. We have more people incarcerated than China due to our unconstitutional prohibition on drugs. We have corporate interest trumping individual liberty because our politicians are the most corrupt in the world. EVERY governmental agency, including the FDA has been corrupted by corporate interest. Our infant morality is going up and our literacy rate is dropping. We have more school loan debt than credit card debt. Students can’t get jobs or get rid of their debt in Bankruptcy. Much of our troubles in the world are caused by US aggression. Our Constitution requires congress to declare war, not the president at his whim. Young men are coming home in body bags in a fight for oil, not liberty, when we have oil that we could drill for here. We could also grow hemp for fuel if it was legal. What you said about seeing “both sides” is interesting. Why should there be a “side” when persevering, life, liberty and property for all? With each and every government usurpation there has been no turning back in the direction of liberty, so just how can we recover? I am all for “the right people governing” but I do not see Obama as any better than Romney on any substantial issues. Obama is an owned man with the same donors as Romney. They are both corrupted by corporate interest. Why don’t you check out third party candidates? You would probably like Jill Stein, a much better choice than Obama.

We always knew Adam was an Obama supporter, and I also consider him a very intelligent person, but damn, these social issues are secondary. Gay marriage is inevitable and there will never be a majority to outlaw abortion, no matter who is in office. To vote based on these issues is to rearrange the furniture in a burning house.

There are three other candidates who are more supportive of civil liberties than Obama. Jill Stein for the Green Party, Rocky Anderson for the Justice Party and Gary Johnson for the Libertarian Party. Any of them is a better choice for President than Obama or Romney.
