People throughout the nation have been looking for ways to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy, and Val Chmerkovskiy of Dancing With the Stars is no exception. Val and his family have longstanding ties to New York and the East Coast, and now it seems Val is doing what he can to help facilitate the storm recovery.
Val tweeted, "A portion of everything I make from now on #DWTS will be donated to the #RedCross #Hurricane Sandy. I encourage everybody to do what they can." It has been clear via Chmerkovskiy's Twitter page this week that he has had those in the path of Hurricane Sandy on his mind quite a bit. He also tweeted that he will be sharing a link where "Team Vally" supporters (those rooting for Kelly Monaco and Val this season on DWTS) can donate as well.
Dancing With the Stars is one of many ABC shows that will be participating in the "Day of Giving" effort next Monday. ABC has said that the effort "will reach tens of millions of viewers with a specific call to action...to do what Americans do best, and pull together in support of those who are suffering." It seems clear that Val Chmerkovskiy decided not to wait for ABC's effort to move forward, he's getting started right away with his own plan. Kudos to Val and all the others in the public eye that are helping out those affected by the massive storm.
