Fans of Dancing With the Stars know that Maksim Chmerkovskiy and his family have long-standing ties to the East Coast, and it looks like they've been quite worried about those affected by Hurricane Sandy. While Monday's DWTS will be doing some special things to try to help those on the East Coast, Maks isn't sitting around waiting for others to make a difference. He's jumping in and getting started on his own.
Maks shares he's working with Kirstie to gather needed supplies for those on the East Coast affected by the storm. Maksim tweeted, "Los Angeles! Bring NEW supplies to 1864 N. Vermont Ave. Sending 1 semi tonight and trying to get more drivers/saints for more trips 2 NY/NJ." He quickly got followers posting that they could help with more trucks and drivers, and Maks was quick to connect with them.
The address Maks shared is the location of Kirstie Alley's store, and she's been heavily involved in working to get this effort into place. Chmerkovskiy has been scrambling to determine what items and areas are most in need, and he noted in an earlier tweet that he was crying as he saw some of the damage. He also tweeted a picture of the restaurant Tatiana on Brighton Beach, which has collapsed from the storm. He notes that Tatiana is where he first danced when he came to the U.S.
Seeing efforts like what Maksim Chmerkovskiy is doing in the midst of the Hurricane Sandy damage is inspiring and heart-warming. Maks certainly has his day-to-day image he likes to project thanks to being a hot commodity on Dancing With the Stars, but he clearly has a big heart as well.
