Poor Robert Pattinson! He's sustained quite a few punches to the gut recently, what with his girlfriend Kristen Stewart cheating on him, the ensuing media storm surrounding that scandal and the current controversy about his decision to reconcile with her—for now. However, as he and Stewart embark on promotional tours for Breaking Dawn-Part 2, their status seems to be fairly copacetic. But the handsome Twilight actor recently admitted he's had a rough go of it elsewhere, too—from his own countrymen, no less.
"I get a lot more abuse in England. That's just a general English attitude, I did the same thing to famous people. It's just your instinct," Pattinson recently revealed to Digital Spy, as Entertainmentwise reports. It sounds like the British may be giving their golden boy—who's a Hollywood royal in his own right—a bit of a hard time. They're probably just jealous of his tremendous success. Stewart might need to whip out some of her Snow White warrior-princess moves to set them straight!
(He's certainly not getting any abuse from Cameron Diaz, although she may have been insulted by his lack of attention. The actress was allegedly flirting with him at a recent dinner. However, her rumored advances sparked nary an acknowledgment from the dedicated Pattinson.)
Interestingly enough, it seems it took Robert Pattinson's friends and fans and foes across the pond a bit longer to latch on to his huge fame factor, which came in large part due to The Twilight Saga. He said, "I used to be able to be in England and just be fine. No one had any idea who I was, [the attention] came later in England. Now it's relatively similar [to the U.S.]."
Notoriously private and guarded when it comes to personal matters, Pattinson probably appreciated and savored his less spotlighted existence in England—while it lasted before the swarms of paparazzi and the crush of followers descended on him to track his every move.
