Kirstie Alley brought up her purported love affair with the late Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze during a visit with Jimmy Kimmel, insisting the affair wasn't a sexual one. Nor was the one she also says she had with John Travolta.
According to a report from RadarOnline, the affairs came to light earlier in the week when Alley divulged a decades long secret, saying she and Patrick Swayze engaged in a love affair while filming the movie North and South during the 1980s. She was married to Parker Stevenson at the time and Swayze was married to Lisa Niemi. Her affair with Travolta took place when the two filmed Look Who's Talking in 1989.
Now Alley (maybe she's come under a bit of fire?) is sort of recanting her initial statement, saying the love she shared with both men didn't result in affairs.
"I didn't say the word affair, ever," she said on Jimmy Kimmel Live. "It wasn't sexual affairs."
And that makes it okay?
"It's a little hard not to confuse the boundaries," she added. "When you're on a set for six months, the lines get blurred. You see stars get divorced everyday because people DO have sex, Jimmy!"
The biggest question in this whole soul cleansing that Alley seems to be doing is why is she bringing this up now? She claims to have a great relationship with John Travolta's wife Kelly Preston, so that situation hopefully isn't an issue. But Patrick Swayze is gone and can't explain to his wife that despite whatever Alley is claiming, he still loves her.
Do you think this admission on behalf of Dancing With the Stars contestant Kirstie Alley has caused Lisa Niemi unnecessary pain? Shouldn't Alley have considered Niemi's feelings before making this kind of public statement?
And if her love for Patrick Swayze was as pure and true as she claims, wouldn't she respect his memory and not want his wife living with doubts as a result of her words?
What do you think was the catalyst driving Kirstie Alley to divulge this decades-old secret? Is she having some sort of post midlife crisis?
