Louis Tomlinson is exiting the Twitter scene—for now. The One Direction singer is leaving his fellow band mates, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan, to deal with all the inappropriate tweet geeks. He, for one, has had enough of the hate, and he's not about to let it ruin his one-year anniversary, which is Saturday, Nov. 17, with his girlfriend, Eleanor Calder. Good for him!
"What a great year together @EleanorJCalder. Love you!!!!" Tomlinson sweetly tweeted early on Saturday in honor of the big day. Little did he know that he would set off a storm of trolls ready to attack and hurl Twitter grenades his way. As Sugarscape confirms, the 1D cutie was bombarded with accusations and 140-character-or-less abuse over his "fake" relationship with Calder. It's all totally unacceptable, and Tomlinson apparently thought so, too.
Tomlinson replied to a friend who tweeted a show of support after the backlash, saying, "@Stanley_Lucas unfortunately mate people like that are a lost cause and can't stand to see me and eleanor happy. Shame really!" Then he sounded the death knell for his @Louis_Tomlinson account: "Sinabit :) going off twitter for a bit! Love to everyone who cares :)"
Like Zayn Malik, who also quit Twitter for a flash-in-the-pan period of time in the midst of those tumultuous cheating rumors, Louis Tomlinson will most certainly rejoin the social media site. He couldn't banish it for good, especially not in light of the boy band's huge following and their near-mandatory need to communicate via hashtags and Twitpics. But kudos to him for calling it quits for now. No better way to defeat the bullies than to totally ignore them and make them think that he's not getting their negative messages. They're probably just pining for attention anyway—or they're still mourning the big bro-mance that never was, Larry Stylinson.
