Kate Moss is sporting a new tattoo on her lower back, but it wasn't put there by just anyone. The supermodel told Vanity Fair a lot of things, particularly about her past relationship with Johnny Depp and some drug use but she also told them about a one million dollar tattoo that was inked by German painter Lucian Freud. This new Kate Moss tattoo certainly gives her bragging rights, and is a much harder to steal piece of artwork than if it were hanging on her wall.
The tattoo apparently shows two swallows and was put on there by Freud after the two became friends in 2002. Moss had said that the painter was her number one most-want-to-meet person. Bella Freud, the daughter of the famous artist, called Moss and set up a gab session. Lucian Freud painted a portrait of Moss, which brought almost four million pounds at auction. Then, he offered to do a tattoo for her.
''He told me about when he was in the navy, when he was 19 or something, and he used to do all the tattoos for the sailors." Moss said. "And I said, 'Oh my God, that's amazing.' And he went, 'I can do you one. What would you like? Would you like creatures of the animal kingdom?' I mean, it's an original Freud. I wonder how much a collector would pay for that? A few million?"
Moss has quite a few other tattoos as well including one on her wrist, palm and ankle. As for what the tattoo is worth, it is impossible to determine, but a million dollars would be an easy estimate for an original work like the Kate Moss tattoo by the famous artist. Hopefully, Moss doesn't run into money trouble somewhere down the line and have to get a skin graft and sell it.
