Royalty in the past wore their very finest for their royal portraits. Kate Middleton, however, chose to wear something that any woman could've picked up at the local mall or shopping plaza. The blue silk top that she wore for her royal portrait is apparently from chain store French Connection.
Unfortunately for those in the US who want to dress like her, the top is currently out of stock. Those in the UK have a bit more luck, as there's still some available for the sale price of £57, although in white and in bigger sizes than what the Duchess of Cambridge wears.
She may have picked up the top back in May, when she was spotted going through the sale racks at the French Connection store on the King's Road.
It's likely that the top's sold out status has nothing or little to do with it being worn by Kate Middleton. Hardly any attention has been paid to what she wore in the portrait since everyone's busy talking about how horrible she's been portrayed. Good thing she didn't shell out big bucks for a special outfit for it!
