Marilyn Monroe Compared To Lindsay Lohan - But Not In a Good Way!

Marilyn Monroe is the epitome of a Hollywood sex symbol and her iconic look still radiates through young starlets who try to epitomize her. One A-lister who no longer idolizes the actress is Megan Fox and she is now revealing why. Many may be shocked to learn it has something to do with Lindsay Lohan!

Lohan once had a blossoming career, starring in films such as The Parent Trap and Mean Girls. Unfortunately, the darker side of Hollywood took hold of the young actress and soon her career (and life) were spiraling out of control. Fox had apparently not known much about Monroe aside from that she was a sex symbol, so she decided to read up on her. She realized that Lohan's downward spiral mirrored that of Monroe's and that was something that Fox did not want to emulate.

According to Perez Hilton, Fox recently opened up to Esquire magazine and said, "I started reading about [Marilyn] and realized that her life was incredibly difficult. It's like when you visualize something for your future. I didn't want to visualize something so negative....She was sort of like Lindsay. She was an actress who wasn't reliable, who almost wasn't insurable....She had all of the potential in the world, and it was squandered. I'm not interested in following in those footsteps."

That seems to be a bit of an ignorant statement, though. Sure, Marilyn Monroe had a lot of issues, but her life was a lot different than Lohan's. Decades after her death, audiences continue to be captivated with Monroe's performances and many still idolize her, sometimes for reasons that even they can't explain. While Monroe's life did spiral out of control, her life wasn't turned into a media circus, but that could be because the media wasn't as hounding as it is today.

Despite everything, many people adore Marilyn because of her issues, not in spite of them. They see a woman who was against the world and tried her best to make something of herself. The pain that she felt behind closed doors and the fake smile she put on for the public lead people to want to find the true Monroe.

Lohan, on the other hand, seems to simply idolize the late star. In 2009, Lohan posed for a recreation of Monroe's famous "last sitting" photo shoot and, while the photos were nice, she came under harsh criticism. She also tried to capture the star's essence when posing nude for Playboy in 2011.

There is nothing wrong with Megan Fox decided she no longer supports Marilyn Monroe. However, it seems a bit immature to get a tattoo (which she has since had removed) of an icon before taking the time to learn about their life (something that Fox is guilty of.) Of course Lindsay Lohan will be remembered in decades to come, but if she doesn't turn her life around, it certainly won't be for the same reasons that Monroe is remembered.
