Adam Lambert has just been announced as one of the honorees for the We Are Family Foundation 2012 Celebration Gala 2.0 occurring later this month. Adam will be receiving the "Unity Award" and will also perform at the event. Hosted by Rosie Perez and Touré, the gala will include a concert featuring Adam and Nile Rodgers & CHIC, with other special guests including Taylor Dayne.
We Are Family Foundation "celebrates the vision of a global family by creating and supporting programs tha
t inspire and educate people about mutual respect, understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity—while striving to solve some of our biggest global problems at the same time."
Adam and Nile Rodgers met through a mutual friend, Sam Sparro, via Twitter and they all eventually recorded a song together for Adam's sophomore album. Fans are hoping that they will perform the song, "Shady," at the event. Although Adam has performed ths song live many times, he has never been joined by Sam or Nile for a live version.
Nile was apparently blown away by the experience of working with Adam, tweeting at the time, "I really wouldn't say it if it weren't true-Working w Adam Lambert was one of the most organically perfect jams I've had since Bowie." Adam was equally enthralled with the experience because when Nile tweeted to Adam about the great day, he responded, "@nilerodgers the feeling is sooo mutual. :) what an amazing day." When Nile tweeted about the gala this morning, word traveled fast and already Adam's fans are rushing to buy tickets to see the performance.
The We Are Family Foundation 2012 Celebration Gala 2.0 will be held on Thursday, January 31, at Manhattan's Centers Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. For more information about the event and to purchase tickets, check out the official website.

Slainte!
This was the first thing I ever heard him sing, three years ago - and I've been hooked ever since. His voice, to me, is magic. He's got a range that's out of this world.
