Beyonce is under PETA's line of fire for the outfit she wore during her Super Bowl halftime performance on Sunday. The outfit, which included "strips of engineered python, paneled iguana and trapunto/pick stitched leather" has the organization outraged.
According to a report from ContactMusic, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals issued a statement that even included a diss about her wardrobe choice at President Obama's inauguration.
"Today's fashions are trending toward humane vegan options, and her Super Bowl outfit missed the mark on that score," the organization said in a written statement.
And regarding her full length mink coat worn for the presidential inauguration, they added, "What does it mean when one of the most popular musicians in the world endorses the fur trade in such a dramatic way?"
The singer, who reunited with her girl band Destiny's Child at the Super Bowl, has yet to address these complaints. Recently coming under fire for lip syncing the National Anthem, might she be a bit weary of defending herself in the media?
Of course it's expected these days when people are so vastly popular that they must conform with society's accepted standards. Today's society seems to agree with PETA on many counts--including the killing of animals for fashion purposes.
How do you expect Beyonce will address this slam from PETA? Will she speak publicly on the issue or simply issue a statement? Would she have the guts to dismiss the slam and not comment at all?
How do you feel about celebrities wearing clothing that obviously resulted in the death of animals for human vanity?
