One Direction crooner Harry Styles was warned against retaliation following Taylor Swift's mocking performance of Never Ever Getting Back Together at Sunday's Grammy Awards.
According to a report from RadarOnline, when Taylor Swift transitioned into a bad British brogue while performing the spoken part of her hit song, it was clear to everyone it was a dig at the One Direction singer. And of course Harry's natural reaction was probably to dig back.
So was it Simon Cowell who issued the warning about retaliating? No. It was Harry's band mates--Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne.
"The lads have told Harry to forget about retaliating, because it's just not worth it," a source close to the What Makes You Beautiful singers says. "They've all advised him to be the bigger person and not to wash his dirty laundry in public - it's just tacky and embarrassing."
(Isn't the actual phrase to 'air' your dirty laundry? Of course Harry's laundry might have been extra dirty, so it required added scrubbing. You know, he does have that sordid past with all those cougars, after all!)
The source continued, saying Niall, Liam, Louis and Zayn were all a bit perplexed when Harry was dating Taylor Swift because it detracted from what the band was doing as a whole. Everyone was far more interested in what Harry and Taylor were doing instead.
"Of course, when it didn't work out, there was a sense of relief because they knew that, along with Harry, they could all move on," the source adds. "It's only Taylor now that seems to clinging on to their failed relationship, and Harry has been told to keep his thoughts private."
Someone should give Taylor Swift the same advice. No, maybe Harry Styles didn't handle his break up in the best manner, but what's done is done. It's time for both of these young people to move on with both their careers and their lives. By continuing the public humiliating of each other, they're only preventing the healing process--and it's clear that Taylor still needs to heal.
Will Harry heed his band mates advice?
