Many have praised Kate Middleton for recycling her outfits. For one environmentally conscious fashion designer, however, it's not enough. British designer Vivienne Westwood today publicly said that the Duchess of Cambridge should recycle her clothes more instead of constantly expanding her closet.
"I think it would be great if she [the duchess] wore the same clothes over and again, because that's very good for the environment and it would send out a very nice message. If you're going to all that trouble to get an outfit that suits you, then you should keep on wearing it. I mean you don't have to have a red outfit one day and then something almost the same in blue the next," the designer said ahead of her London Fashion Week showcase at the Saatchi Gallery.
Kate Middleton is damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. If she wears the same thing too much, then she gets blasted for being a fashion bore. But if she steps out in something new too often, then she gets criticized for being a spoiled royal. It seems that the Duchess of Cambridge has, in fact, struck the right balance between recycling existing items and purchasing new ones. As someone who works in the fashion industry, Vivienne Westwood is just shooting herself in the foot with her words!
