Kate Middleton is reportedly going to break from royal tradition and celebrate the impending birth of her and Prince William's child in what is perceived solely as a commoner's tradition. The Duchess of Cambridge is having a baby shower!
According to a report from Hollywood Life, Kate's sister Pippa Middleton is planning the shower. Hopefully she is far more successful at this endeavor than she was writing her party planning book. That was a total flop, and resulted in Pippa's agent dropping her just a week or so ago.
Almost every mom looks forward to a baby shower--at least for their first born. Americans have long broken from tradition, however, and tend to throw showers for moms having subsequent children as well. Queen Elizabeth didn't have a baby shower nor did Queen Victoria. It is expected that the Duchess of Cambridge won't have one either, but Kate and Pippa have other plans in mind. How might Queen Elizabeth react to yet another break from tradition from her granddaughter-in-law?
"It was her sister Pippa's idea," a source close to Kate says. "While it's all going to be very relaxed and fun, Kate is hoping the queen will drop by because the two are remarkably close. They bonded big time and really enjoy each other's company. Since this is going to be a first for royals, Kate would love the queen to be part of it."
Do you think Kate and Will have been good for Queen Elizabeth in these later years? She has bent a few of her hard and fast rules since Will married Kate. Will she break yet another by attending Kate Middleton's baby shower?
What kinds of gifts do you suppose people will bring to celebrate the impending birth of a royal baby?
